You are invited to participate in a new event, Sphereball*, this Sunday, September 15, 2013 at 11AM EST (1 hour before crusade), Here are the details:
*Sphereball deemed appropriate as soccer/football terminology varies by region.
Time: 11AM EST
Teams: Aresden vs. Elvine
One energy sphere will be dropped in Middleland by a GM. The energy sphere automatically drops within Middleland Island and the coordinates are automatically announced by the system in green text.
Each town has a portal (‘net’):
+ Elvine’s portal is located on the Elvine side of the river (see screenshots below).
+ Aresden’s portal is located on the Aresden side of the river (see screenshots below).
To successfully score a goal, the towns must fight over the sphereball — using magic or physical attacks to push it into their enemy’s portal. So, for example, Aresden must work together to push the sphereball into the Elvine portal located on the Elvine side of the river. Elvine must work together to push the sphereball into Aresden’s portal on the Aresden side of the river (See screenshots below for locations).
When a goal is scored, the energy sphere disappears and the system automatically announces the player’s name who scored the goal in green text…noted as “Player’s Name: Goal in!”. This counts as a point and the town that scores wins the round.
Scoring: Non-goals (own portal)
Note however, that if a player pushes the ball into their own portal…they are penalized with a deduction of contribution points (CP are not currently being tracked for quests) and the sphereball disappears…this action does not count as a goal. Neither team wins the round.
In the event of a non-goal, a GM will unsummonall the existing energy sphere (if it did not disappear automatically) and summon a new sphereball. The system will again drop it in the Middleland Island with announced coordinates in green text. Players must then rush back to the Island and begin the process again, until a successful goal has been scored.
(Note there is some strategy in pushing the goal into your own portal….you will lose contribution points (cost); however, the benefit is you’ve moved the sphereball away from your own portal so the other team is less likely to score.
The event will last two to three rounds. The town which scores the most successful goals will be deemed the winner (as identified as the nation of the scoring player).
The winning town will receive a 20 minute summon event in Stone Mines (immediately following the crusade at 12PM EST if there is not enough time between 11AM and 12PM EST).
Everyone may participate and there are no restrictions, with the exception that health slates that will not be allowed (GM will ban you to BI if you use one). The event is hosted in Middleland, .: if you die, you risk item loss — so bring your zems! Similarly, EKs will count so defending the sphereball by killing off the other team is a viable tactic.
